"Pictorialist Landscapes" is an intimate look into otherwise overlooked scenes through a surreal window. These photographs depict various juxtapositions of nature and man-made influences. By using glass work and a unique visual process to reduce detail and color information, the images become dreamlike, a little romantic, and somewhat haunted. This is achieved primarily through the serendipitous distortions from the glass and the use of desaturated and toned color. A great deal of artistic meaning has been injected into these pieces through glass plate work, obscure angles, and printing processes. VIEW
"Minimalist Landscapes" depicts landscape abstractions through narrow focal lengths and subject matter. There is a sense of figure/ground ambiguity between formal elements. These compositions make use of the natural flattening qualities of photography to shift planes and blend in the surroundings. The minimal style of these pieces risk being boring to the viewer. In order to add some visual interest, there are a few formal elements high in the frame with a large foreground area with some level of visual texture. VIEW
